MUMBAI: A six-year-old girl, on a picnic with her family, slipped and drowned in the swimming pool of a private bungalow in Uttan, Bhayander (west) on Friday. Her twin brother, who was accompanying her , was a few feet away from the pool. An accidental death report has been filed at Uttan coastal police station.

Geetika Nadkarni and her family, residents of Dahisar, were part of a group of private bank employees who had booked the bungalow for the weekend. They arrived on Friday morning. Around l0.30 am, when the group gathered to have breakfast, Geetika and her twin moved away from the crowd towards the pool. The group comprised a few other children.
Geetika, who came close to the pool, lost her balance and slipped. She fell into the pool and drowned. Her parents and others in the group rushed to help Geetika. She was brought out of the water, but it was too late by then. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead before arrival.
Prashant Langi, inspector of Uttan police station said Geetika’s twin brother was behind her. The group saw her falling, they rushed and pulled her out, but it was all over.”
Police said they are procuring the details of the owner of the bungalow.
